P.I.T. PROGRAM
Jim McHugh is a musician and producer from Greensboro, NC now based in Brooklyn. He is founder of the jazz-punk band Sunwatchers, whose prolificacy, inclusionary leftism and scorching telekinetic playing has garnered international acclaim since their formation in 2013.
Fomenting currently for him musically is a pair of home-recorded solo LPs, an ongoing longterm collaboration with the legendary improvisational guitarist (and fellow Greensborian) Eugene Chadbourne, a project with the renowned Downtown NYC drummer Jonathan Kane focused on interpreting the work of another leftist from Greensboro, Henry Flynt, and more Sunwatchers material.
Jim produced and played guitar on the last known recordings of the late free-jazz pioneer Arthur Doyle, has composed film scores, was leader of the Athens, GA free-rock cabal Dark Meat, and has toured and recorded extensively with Brigid Dawson of Thee Oh Sees among many others.
McHugh is also founder and proprietor of Property Is Theft aka P.I.T. aka The PIT, a leftist-run community center, venue and info-shop supported by its sales of radical books and music.
P.I.T. PROGRAM is his radio show, where he plays music that is radical in all senses of that word.
