David Tart

David Tart, AKA “Pop Tart” uses mash-up, tape-op-art, and audio plunderism techniques to create a story from disparate ripped sources, using a variety of ambient, funk, psychedelic, and pop underlayment to create political, socialogical, pscyhological journeys into uncharted depths of sound. Each show uses a theme to set sail, navigate, and weave a story through the undulating waves of audio insanity . . .

By day David Tart works as a feature film animator, working on films like Toy Story, Finding Nemo, Monsters Inc and whole slew of other tentpole animation movies. The raw, unstructured, collage-art form of the Mixed Bag is his opportunity to leave the structure world of big budget animation and focus on creating freewheeling madness.
