SCENE/SOUNDS is back to focus on the music of the big and small screens – from scores to sound design, from Library music to Foley artists, from theme tunes to adverts.

This month I’m joined by Derek Griffiths MBE to talk through his wide and varied career but focussing in on the amazing music and songs he had created for children’s programs.

We delve into what it was like to work on the BBC flagship shows Playschool and Playaway and how those shows were created and the freedom the talented cast were given to create.

We also look into the work Derek did on other popular Children’s programs like Bod and Heads and Tails where he collaborated with the writers in unique ways to compose all the music.
