“ I kicked off with Curtis Mayfield – ‘Superfly’ (Louie Vega Extended Alternative Vocal Remix) (Warner). First heard this remix back in 2005 and only had a digital version. Last weekend, I finally found a promo record with this alternate vocal remix from the one and only Louie Vega at one of my favorite record shops in Brooklyn Human Head NYC I forgot how amazing it sounds.

Then I played Vick Lavender Feat. Angel-A – Rain (Sophisticado Recordings & Sacred Rhythm Music). First time I heard this record was when Vick Lavender came from Chicago to perform at beautiful Joe Claussell’s at Cosmic Artts in brooklyn 2 years ago. I instantly fell in love with this re-interpretation. I picked up the record a few days ago, it’s beautiful. Many of you might know SWV’s version ‘Rain,’ which is based on Jaco Pastorius’s instrumental ‘Portrait of Tracy’. It was released last week.
