Hitting Things with Jenny Moore
With punk music as my first political education, music has always been a starting point to form opinions, explore ideas and feel through trouble. Always starting with the voice, you’ll hear psychosexual choral chants, underground queer pop, and deep rhythms that help me think and feel more expansively about gender, politics, desire, rage, the world. Mix this with a cute selection of unrelesed voice memos, demos and recordings mined from the defunct tascam recorders of friends, lovers, and musical heroes and a sound world will emerge.
Jenny Moore is a Canadian composer, singer, drummer and performance artist. She leads the six-piece choral punk band Jenny Moore’s Mystic Business (Lost Map Records) and founded the alternative feminist choir F*Choir, using non-gendered voice parts, graphic scores, no auditions to create highly energetic, rhythmic and political music. Her work has been performed by the National Girls Youth Choir, Musarc choral collective, and she has featured on BBC Late Junction collaboration sessions as well as DIY and live art venues internationally.
