DJ Tara
Absorbing the sounds of New York since her birth, Tara spins a collage of soulful sounds that captures an eclectic vibe. Her sets acknowledge the past while looking to the future and celebrating the now. Tara loves nightlife, having started out as an event producer and promoter. As a member of Rare Form, she helped originate Donuts are Forever, an annual fundraiser/tribute to hip hop producer J. Dilla, as well as Makossa Cookout, now over 10 years strong as a beloved summer hang. Tara believes being a DJ is more than just playing a mix of records; it is a matter of building trust between herself and the crowd and sharing the knowledge and love she has for the music and the feelings it projects onto the listeners. Tara’s aim in her sets is to give people a taste of the familiar as well as something new that may be something they have never realized was needed in their musical memory.
