Dennis Bovell & Ruben Fox – Choose Me: Soho Radio Vinyl Session.

Dennis and Ruben performed a wonderful version of Dennis’ track Choose Me, as we cut the session direct to dub plate, creating a one-of-a-kind acetate.

“Dennis Bovell is a British Reggae legend. He is one of the originators of Lover’s Rock and the producer of big hits such as ‘Silly Games’ (Janet Kay) and ‘After Tonight’ with his band Matumbi. He is also a singer, multi instrumentalist and sound engineer known for his dubs in a unique style and creativity where he experiments with various styles and musical influences.”

“Ruben Fox is fast becoming one of the UK’s most outstanding Saxophonists. Steeped in the lineage of Swing and the Blues, Ruben’s husky tone & exciting double time figures define his sound. Hailing from Brixton, South London, he started playing for his Fathers carnival troupe aged 10. Through Kinetika Bloco he was introduced to the music of Sun Ra, Alice Coltrane, Fela Kuti and many more, with peers from Kinetika he then joined the Tomorrow’s Warriors program where he started to practice and concentrate on Jazz. At 16, he began to cut his teeth at the Ronnie Scott’s Late night sessions.”
