Ben Watson puts to spotlight on Ray Agee, urban bluesman who founded a label in Los Angeles in the 60s, hailing from the same musical culture which shaped Frank Zappa and Captain Beefheart. Under the name Don Van Vliet, Beefheart’s paintings are on display in London (Michael Werner Gallery, 22 Upper Brook Street, W1). Out To Lunch responds to his art with piano, guitar and body slaps.
