This month we’ve got another fantastic guest Robin Guthrie joins us to talk about his work in films and scoring – focusing on his work with American filmmaker Gregg Araki.
We talk a lot about the film Mysterious Skin which is approaching a 20 year Anniversary in 2025 – and the work Robin did with the late composer Harold Budd on the score. It’s a remarkable score offering lightness and hope in a film that is very dark in nature and tackling difficult subject matter.
Robin talks about how he and Harold composed the music together, splitting up scenes and creating a dreamlike atmosphere for the film. We also talk about the music written for the film that features in the trailer too that has received clamour for him to work it into a fully formed song.
