SCENE/SOUNDS feat. Mark Mothersbaugh (25/12/2023)
Mark chats in depth about how Devo were formed while studying at Kent State University – amidst the backdrop of anti-Vietnam demonstrations and the tragic shootings of students by the Ohio Guard. His love of music and the exposure to people like Morton Subotnick drove them to create the jerky artful punk music and to get people from Bowie to Brian Eno all paying attention.
During downtime from Devo – in a period where they were changing record labels it was an offer from Paul Reubens to Mark to soundtrack his new show Pee-Wee’s Playhouse that led to a change in career setting up a path of working on countless films and TV shows.
