Scene/Sounds feat. Dominik Scherrer (26/07/2022)
Paul Sandell is back with a brand new show SCENE/SOUNDS – following on from his show The Music Library SCENE/SOUNDS continues his focus on the music of the big and small screens – from scores to sound design, from Library music to Foley artists, from theme tunes to library music.
Award winning composer Dominik Scherrer guests on this month’s show to talk all through his career – From family obsessions with Bach to exploring post punk and finding a voice for himself.
We discuss how the music of Popol Vuh and Michael Nyman forged a path in how to score films differently and how that led to Dominik writing and directing his own films to score and creating the first opera to be performed at the Glastonbury Festival.
There’s the differences in composing for iconic and well known characters like Miss Marple to big TV Sci Fi productions like Primeval to looking for authenticity and interesting dynamics in the score for Ripper Street.
