Scene/Sounds (10/06/2024)
This month we’ve got another double-bill of TWO great guests!
First we’re joined by the fantastic Amelia Warner to talk about her work and focus in on the score to the new Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer produced Young Woman and The Sea.
Amelia talks through her journey into music composition which took a detour via acting initially before getting to work on her first feature Mum’s List (Niall Johnson). We discuss how her next feature Mary Shelley landed her firmly on the map with a delicate and lyrical score which won a prestigious International Film Music Critics Association Award.
THEN we’re joined by Tamar Kali who returns to the show to talk about the recent film Shirley that she scored for Netflix. It’s the second film titled Shirley that she’s scored (we discussed the previous the last time she joined the show) this one depicts the 1972 presidential run of Shirley Chisholm, who was the first Black woman to be elected to the United States Congress.
