Norsicaa (13/04/2020)
A familiar face behind the decks as well as the counter at Sounds of the Universe record store, DJing has taken Norsicaa (aka Alice Whittington) around the world – from Australia to Japan, Cuba, Malaysia and all over Europe.
Not content with just being a selector, the Australian-born child of mixed heritage is also an advocate for women and people of colour in music, and regularly speaks to international press and on industry panels on the subject. Alice was also a main organiser of the Manana Cuba festival in 2016 as Head of Logistics and Artist Liaison, and she now stays busy managing the hugely respected independent record label Soundway Records.
Having commanded the dancefloor in London clubs and bars for several years, Norsicaa now delivers her signature eclectic style to music festivals and parties, as well as many highly regarded and ground-breaking arts, culture and fashion events. She has also showcased her wide-ranging taste on a number of radio shows including Radar Radio, Reprezent Radio and NTS.
From throwback anthems to future classics, Applebum is a celebration of urban music on a quest of discovery through the sounds, fashion and lifestyle of a movement that helped shape a generation.
Tune in to The Applebum show on Soho Radio featuring classic jams, originators, inspirations, new school players and future stars.
