MOVING SOUNDS with Olof Cornéer (Night Gestalt) (01/11/2020)
“Morton Feldman once said that he disliked functional harmony because it creates a situation where the music listens for you. I feel the same way about a lot of music with too much expression. There’s no room left for the listener. So here is two hours of non expressive music – full of space – to create room for the listener so you can really listen.”
“With bare materials, often only on note at the time, composer Olof Cornéer tries to capture what he thinks is the essence of music, defying notions of what is simple or complex. So far he has released a solo piano piece as well as a piece for wind quintet. He has just finished a larger choral piece that will be recorded during the autumn. Under his alias – Night Gestalt – he creates bleepy arpeggios floating in space. Olof Cornéer has also scored movies as well as worked with sound installations.”
