Mike Pickering’s Afternoon Bangers (17/09/2020)

Mike Pickering began his career in music in the late 70s signing Manchester punk bands, and upon his return from running a night in Rotterdam, returned to Manchester and became a pivotal figure at Factory Records and the now infamous Hacienda nightclub, putting on nights and as a resident DJ at club nights ‘Nude’ ‘Hot’ and ‘Shine’, playing Chicago House and electronica during its lauded ‘halcyon’ period. Whilst working for Factory Records, he signed the Happy Mondays and produced their first EP, and appears in the film, ’24 Hour Party People’ as himself.

Since then, he has been a member of a number of high profile musical acts and currently works in A&R.
