Forward Motion with George Burton – Live From NYC (28/05/2021)
This episode of Forward Motion has the theme of ‘people’ – including tracks by Marcus Strickland, Meshell Ndegecello and Nancy Harms.
Award-winning musician, composer, and natural curator of the under-discovered, George Burton is known for ushering the jazz idiom into non-jazz realms, and vice versa. His commanding writing and performance style have been praised by NPR, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and leading jazz publications. Originally from Philadelphia, George inherited the rich musical tradition passed on by his mentors (notably Shirley Scott and Sid Simmons), then brought his own unique style to NYC to expand his craft, and is known among peers and fans as a force to be reckoned with.
