Donna McKevitt writes music for film, contemporary dance and concert. In the early 90’s she was in the band Miranda Sex Garden and wrote her first classical work Translucence , a song cycle for Derek Jarman’s poetry, while writing music for his last film ‘Blue’. Donna’s most recent soundtracks include ‘The Swimming Diaries’, a beautiful conceptual film directed by Susan Thomson about dealing with grief and loss. The album came out June 28th on Dharma Records and Donna is curating an evening inspired by her work on ‘The Swimming Diaries’ called ‘Water Holds Me Like a Lover’ at Ramsgate’s Festival of Sound , August 23rd. Also on the same date the stunning documentary ‘The Mountain Within Me’ directed by Polly Steele will be released, and is about Ed Jackson, a professional rugby player who suffered a catastrophic injury and his journey of recovery which has given inspiration to thousands living with disability.
