Composers on Film feat. Harry Escott (26/10/2024)

BAFTA winning composer Harry Escott joins Gemma Dempsey to talk about his film scoring career which includes Steve McQueen’s ‘Shame’, Clio Bernard’s ‘Ava & Ali’, the series ‘Roadkill’ (which won him the BAFTA )and currently on ITV X ‘Joan’ based on a fascinating true story and starring Sophie Turner of Game of Thrones fame. We’ll hear some of his favourite music such as the themes from ‘Fargo’ and ‘Cinema Paradiso’ and a brilliant ear worm from Ezra Collective ‘God Gave Me Feet For Dancing’ , as well as cues from Harry’s scores to Steve McQueen’s series ‘Uprising’ , Michael Winterbottom’s ‘The Road to Guantanamo’ his collaboration with PJ Harvey for the film ‘Dark River’ , ‘Roadkill’ & ‘Joan’.
