Mike Herbstreuth is a German music journalist from Cologne and has a complicated relationship with German music. It somehow always seemed not nearly as good or cool or exciting as the British and American Post-punk, Dream Pop and Indie rock he grew up on. But in the last decade or so he realized something odd: more and more of his favourite songs were by bands from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. And he realized something else: almost no one outside of those countries knew about those great songs. That’s why he started this show – to introduce you to some of his favourite songs by German-speaking indie bands.
