Coma World, comprising of Betamax – drummer from The Comet Is Coming and Soccer96 – and Pete Bennie – bassist from Speakers Corner Quartet – join Raimund this month on both the mix and improvised segments, marking the first time tapeloop pieces were augmented with live instrumentation. The rhythm & arrangments focussed mix features an over-the-top Jean-Claude Vannier moment, a Tom Herbert/Pete bennie/Betamax soundworld from the stunning Trestle Records One Day Band series (https://www.trestlerec.com/onedaybands.html), a work-in-progress Champagne Dub track, couple of choice modern Arabic instrumentals, and a track from B.I.L.L. which found Jaki Liebezeit collaborating with Clive Bell, Betamax’s father.
AROLB explores the idea of perceived reality expressed through live and incidental recordings, lyrical narrative, sound art, speech, and contrasts in sound.
