A Record of Living Beings feat. Beibei Wang (07/06/2025)
In support of Ura Matsuri 2025 at Southbank Centre on 19 July, A Record of Living Beings is proud to welcome percussionist Beibei Wang, an artist with a rich background in both classical and traditional Chinese percussion.
Beibei opens the show with an improvisation on Shaanxi rhythms, and another at 27 mins that bridges into a piece called “Shiba Ban (十八板)” featuring Mike Skelton on Sanxian. Another improvisation, this time on Hunan rhythms, was performed by the duo at 1hr12mins. At this first meeting, Raimund joins Beibei on cassette tape loops and live processing for 2 improvisations at 42mins and 1hr33mins. The show features a handful of other recordings featuring Beibei as well as a selection from Rai crossing geographical and stylistic borders.
