A Record Of Living Beings (31/10/2020)
On this month’s AROLB Raimund is joined by Rob Farhat, one of the programmers at London Jazz Festival and Serious. With his Persian/Armenian/Irish heritage in mind, Rob focussed his selections on the theme of ‘Protest’, while Rai looked for order out of chaos and some sense of beauty amidst the noise. Performed live was a new musique concréte piece named “The Adventures of King Hippo (Part One)”. Utilising material sent by Chicago broadcaster and event producer Alejandro Ayala, it provides an impression of his experiences of live music and friends, of the streets of Oaxaca, and the heritage of the Chicago sound via conversations with Junius Paul from the perspective of February 2020.
RECORD has a meaning of ‘document of first-hand experience’. A Record of Living Beings explores the idea of perceived reality expressed through live and incidental recordings, lyrical narrative, sound art, speech, and contrasts in sound.
